Three second-half goals powered the Springfield boys soccer team to a 3-2 Central League victory over Ridley Thursday at Halderman Field.
The Cougars tallied three unanswered goals after trailing 2-0 at halftime. Jack Hirt converted a pass from Bill Watson late in regulation to put the Cougars in front. Watson also assisted on Alex Corsones’ tally. Todd Berman scored for Springfield as well.
Fernanda Ibarra and Keah Toby each had a goal for Ridley.
Elsewhere in the Central League:
Garnet Valley 7, Marple Newtown 0 >> The Jaguars struck early and often in their rout of the Tigers. Kyle Sager and Timmy Commers netted two goals apiece, while Robert DeCicco chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Jags, who led 3-0 at intermission.
Ethan Hensinger assisted on five of GV’s seven goals. Goalie Chase Woolard finished with 10 saves.
Carian Corr accounted for the Tigers’ only goal.
Penncrest 6, Upper Darby 1 >> The Lions exploded for five second-half goals to pull away from the host Royals. Ethan Emory scored twice and Dan McLoughlin collected a goal and two helpers for Penncrest. Brandon Cairy, Ruari Wilot and Cody Woolery all finished with one tally and goalie Justin Potts made eight saves. Defensively, the Lions (7-2, 3-2) were led by Kevin Fernandez, Pat Stroup and Dillon Rice.
Strath Haven 3, Radnor 1 >> Ethan Birch, Andrew Lowman, Peter Boerth scored for the Panthers. Charlie Schankweiler gave a strong effort in net, stopping eight shots.
In the Bicentennial League:
Delco Christian 6, Collegium Charter 1 >> Jason Woo registered a hat trick and Cole Levis pitched in with a goal and an assist as the Knights cruised. Jack Dill and Ryan Parker also found the back of the net, while goalkeeper Will Campbell made four saves.
Girls
Becca Roberts tallied a hat trick and Morgan Reed added a pair of goals in Interboro’s 9-2 trouncing of Penn Wood.
Alex Mullen, Peyton Giove, Brenna Barker and Abbie Bulovas added a goal apiece for the Bucs, who held a 5-1 lead at halftime.
Kayla Droxler (three saves) and Angelina McLaughlin (one) shared goalkeeping duties.
Maliani Hobbs scored for the Patriots.
In the Catholic League:
Archbishop Ryan 3, Cardinal O’Hara 2 >> Makalia Ley and Julia Stellabotte were the goal scorers for the Lions.
Despite the loss, O’Hara’s Julia Mirarchi was excellent in goal.
